Bluebeard's Castle

Standing on a hilltop overlooking the sparkling blue harbor and the town of Charlotte Amalie, Bluebeard’s Castle Hotel offers spectacular vistas. Legend has it—and some romantics still insist—that the stone tower on the hotel’s grounds was built by the pirate Bluebeard for his one true love, Mercedita. Actually, the Danish built it as a watchtower in the 1600s to supplement the Fort Christian fortress.

Bluebeards Castle offers 170 apartment-style accommodations on a hillside. All rooms and suites feature views of Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas Harbor, and/or the marina at St Thomas Harbor.

Guestrooms are time-share units that vary in size, but all are decorated with rattan furniture, ceramic-tile floors, tropical fabrics, and artwork. Each unit has a terrace and a kitchenette complete with microwave, dishes, toaster, coffeemaker, and refrigerator. Other amenities include cable TVs, VCR's, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and housekeeping service.
